Pool deck drains

I am working on a 9 story building in downtown Asheville, NC. The architect called for a pool deck type channel drain embedded in the concrete balconies at each floor. These drains were installed, and when tested, they leak down on the balcony below. These leaks are not from water going around the drain, but from inside the channnels themselves. Has anyone had any experience with fixing this type of leak?

Leaks?

Are these the "Poly Drain" type of deck drains? If so, the joints between sections should be caulked with a commercial grade sealant that is chlorine resistant when they are being assembled. Check the Pecora website for the correct sealant.

If not, let me know what you are using and perhaps I can help. I have done +/- 20 large municipal and commercial pools in CT.

Thanks for the response. These are NDS microdrains and there is no way to remove the tops. I have, however found the cause of the leaks. The plumbers who installed them drilled thru the drains in order to fasten them to the side of the existing building's floor slab at the proper elevation. The plastic anchors would not "bite" into the holes that were drilled up high next to the surface of the slab, so they lowered the anchors, counting on the silicone to seal the holes. No dice. We are in the process of cutting out the drains, patching them and will flood test them prior to reinstallation. I'll look into this sealant you were talking about that could seal the drains above the couplings. Thanks again!
