No cwalker1960, I'm the idiot that decided to remove all of my pic's because of OP and the home owner coming on this site and giving a negative response to how his swimming pool and spa were completed...I should have recognized it by his screen name

Brodie- The tile and coping looks good.
It's Important to Listen then Act....

He never paid me in full and left me hang'n to pay the sub's. Life lesson learned never work for so called friends and always know who your enemy's are before starting a project. It's been over a year now...he's still a jerk

Also Welcome to CT you'll find tons of info here.

Re: New Pool And Spa Construction

thanks for the welcome. Just stumbled across the site reading a thread some one had posted about building a pool using concrete block. I'm a shotcrete contractor in SC. So is everybodies pool business suffering like ours is here?

Any copper or brass in a pool plumbing system is insane.Chemically treated water (Chlorine is an oxidizer and acid is a corrosive) eats away at the copper or brass and deposits greenish blue copper sulfate stains on the pool plaster, and eventually the copper/brass itself deteriorates. This is the reason the old Anthony apollo brass pumps were discontinued years ago. The heat exchangers in pool heaters used to be copper, along with the heat sinks on gas heaters, but now heat exchangers are copper/nickle alloy (less corrosion/deterioration) and heat sinks are either stainless steel now or I have seen some use sch 80 pvc.

So yeah, you're wrong. Unless the code there is 50 years behind the times.
Oh, j_builder...dont know how you do it in cali, but in fl you get a draw that covers the dig and gunite when the contract's signed, then when tile and coping (if not overpour) is done, you get tile draw..you can structure your draws so that 95% is paid to you before you plaster to reduce your losses to the jerks trying to nickle and dime you all through the job.
