Re: New Pool And Spa Construction

Hi guys,

If you need help with your plumbing or other pool issues let me know. I am up to speed on Varible speed and new water speed regs for 2009... But the way Varible speed is the hot ticket... I am installing pumps burning 400 watts instead of 2500 watts, and now they are approved for commercial applications in CA.

Re: New Pool And Spa Construction

J - nice designs!

that block wall - hard to tell if it's an actual retaining wall or not from the pic -- but that could put some stress (shear) on the shell. It does look like the steel was increased in that area though. But if that wall's retaining ... that could cause an issue. Just wondering if your engineer caught that.

Doesn't seem like the waterfall was reinforced either

So how do you expect your work to go for the next year? Up or down? Nice work, BTW.

At this point I'll just take either up or down cause last year went totally sideways! with job performances, complaining H/O's, tire kicker's and on and on.

Seriously joasis I'm leaving my options open and reviewing other sources of making it thru these tuff times in residential remodeling here in Cali...oh yeah Time for a changehopefully. Thanks for your comment too

I do think this would be a great line of work too, And you could stay busy with alot of off-shoots from pools - decks, sunrooms, outdoor kitchen, fireplaces, landscaping.. etc.

But what about financing for these projects, it seems the people that have the cash, are not spending or looking for a steal

JB, nice azz work man.. I do the same stuff over here on the east coast in FL. I like the idea of some people never reaching bottom; some of our to wealthy PIA clients would be perfectly suited to that pool.

Oh chit man, is that an actual big DE filter. I thought I was the only one using these now in the U.S. Isn't it the rule that your supposed to put a mini bathtub cartridge on every pool over 10k gallons now. Damn, now only if it was PentJunk (Sorry had to say it) I'm totally Hayward. Pentairs price is right but soooo many tech issues for what we get here in FL.

Nice work though...

Actually it's not a DE filter Shawn Pentair 520 Clean & Clear cartridge filter with a turn around of 72,000 in 8 hrs. I think that Pentair has come along way in developing some fine products since the "good olé days" of Anthony products. I consider Hayward products to be a lesser
quality product (serviced both over the years) although Pentair is pricer too!

When I install a DE filter it's common and required by most local building departments to either install a 3"-4" p-trap or a separation tank for removal of DE (diatomaceous earth).

What was that?

j, nice finished product.

We use primarily Pentair equipment. Mastertemp heaters are awsome. Whisperflos are great. But we use Triton TR-60's and 100's as our primary filters. Forget that DE stuff and ocassionally we install a cartridge filter if I'm limited with regards to backwash water.(near wetlands, etc...)

Love the low maintenance of sand.

Sounds like two projects had issues last year? Did you straighten it all out?

Both those swimming pool projects were completed...issues still pending on one pool but hopefully the HO comes to his senses to finalize without any further drama.
