Re: New Pond W Stream Pics

Sorry about the vanishing act with the photos, i must have moved them around and off they went. Here however are the first ice formations that have occured. I have decided to try and keep the stream running all winter, i am looking forward to seeing how the ice and snow impacts the stream.G -----------I STILL MUST DO FINAL LINER ADJUSTMENTS, AND PLANTING IN THE SPRING.

Really cool.
Have the heron been back?
I see the brass buddy there.

Leaving it run may prove a costly
experiment though.
Neither the pipes nor the pump
will like having ice form inside.
At some point the water will cease
to exist as a liquid.

No sign of the Heron, we only have small fish left, so the Heron is not as interested. Regarding your concerns about freezing, i was assuming that as long as i can keep it running constantly, it could not freeze enough to compromise the system. Am i wrong? G

At some point, well above zero I think,
it will no longer matter whether it's moving
or not, it will freeze.
The moving water thing only works
with a much larger mass of water than
you are dealing with.

We have done repairs on several of these
deals that either weren't shut down, or
not drained completely.
Your pump wasn't intended to have ice
expanding inside.
Friday, it was in the 20's here, and
we had a hose nozzle freeze in a couple
of hours between uses.

Re: New Pond W Stream Pics

looks really good.

If I buy the stuff will you come and show me how to do this?

I'm a lot like your brass bird there. I notice that in every pic he is in he is setting on his ass. Just don;t have the get up and go to take on a project like that.

The end of the run; why didn't you make a larger pond there. A pond looks more natural and if large enough can have fish.

(hey guys, if this works, I'll let you know so you can get gene to build a stream for free at your house too!!!)

Re: New Pond W Stream Pics

What kind of liner material did you use??? Have you looked at using Polyurea over Geotextile? Work looks great. I do some stuff with a high ranked Koi Pond builder on the West side of the US. They do some big pond work. Keep up the good work.

As I looked at *most* of the pictures ....I though:
That "landscaping" is going to be a bi otch to maintain!

What's the plan for plantings? Ferns and palm trees?

G- What an amazing water stream system (my first thoughts)! Then as I'm reading about your concerns with the water freezing I'm thinking find out more info and did some goggling, found this from Ponds & Fountains book. Also some great add on details (fountains, bridge's etc.)

Good Luck
