Landscapers Building The Best Pools??

I am not trying to start waves here. But in my area atleast, it seems like the most high end pools are built by the high end landscape companies. At the home show this weekend, i didn't get many leads. But i spend time talking to two very high end pool/landscape companies that were also exibiting.

Both guys where in their mid 30s and were in my exact same spot 15 years ago. The both did less then 10 pools a year, sometimes as little as 6. But they are 250k pools and up. The pictures were the crazies things i have ever seen. One had a 50 ft slide going into the pool that went through a man made mountain. The stuff they are doing is absolutely insane. Some backyard projects hit the 7 figure mark.

Now i have no idea what i am trying to say with this post. Its just crazy how elaborate you can design a pool

Nor from me. Caught myself once saying the pools I'd seen must be some of the most advanced, then some some pics frome California, Texas, and Florida. Just blew me away but what I saw from Nevada should be on Star Trek or the like. And these were residential pools.

rusknet,

"landscapers build the best pools"

What is the BEST pool?

Biggest?
Most Expensive?
Most Elaborate?
Profitable?
Highest quality?

It is a long journey to get where i want to go. It does not happen over night. I am starting with fiberglass, but will move into gunite as my experience progresses.

I am going to met with each of the 2 guys i met and have lunch with them. They each said i could pick their brains as much as i wanted.

One got into pools because he was tired of subbing them to 'AS' and having to deal with the screw ups. The other guy had a client who he worked for before who wanted a pool. He subbed out some things on the first one, but then pulled it all in house besides the gunite and i think the plaster.

I look foward getting to know both of these guys better. One tried to hire me. It be great experience, but i do not think i could just walk away from my business now.

Did you ever find out how they get these high end customers? What their marketing/advertising strategies were?
