Dealing With Subs...

Ok ok ok.

Lets say i hire a sub to build a pool on MY job. Whats the deal?

I plan on not allowing the sub to put any job site signs up. Now if someone calls them from the numbers off their trucks, the sub is free to do whatever the new customer wants. I ain't the boss of the sub.

Do i let the sub put pictures of the pool in their profolio? What happens if the design of the whole job is so good it becomes a award winning pool. Who gets the credit for it?

Now with something like a pool, we really do not have to worry about the client hiring the sub behind our backs for additional work. You can only put 1 pool in on a property. If the ho wants to use the sub for service or whatever thats fine by me as long as i am 100% done with the job and paid.

Re: Dealing With Subs...

well said matt,

what about warranty issues? equipment mechanicals etc,

suppose sub retains pool for service, ice damage to plumbing on yr one... whos on the hook? 1st winter is subject to settle and pipe damage is possible,,, those details need to be worked out...
auto controls? who has to go reprogram everytime the owner screws it up???

as far as signs i doubt they would push for them, but you should have some sign for the water truck out front...

who does the h2o breakin for plaster?, who babysits plaster & shell cure? steel bleed through finish... whos prob?

be very clear about thses things with sub, they are minor problems but to home owners they think the sky is falling

Re: Dealing With Subs...

Rusk - talk with the sub. It's got to be someone you trust. discuss the issues you and pool1 have brought up then put it in writing just so no one forgets later what you agreed to before the construction began.
