What Happened To Formica Moldings ??

Back in the 80's and 90's when putting in Formica Laminate, I would use little 3/8 inch wide Formica corner moldings that would cover the space between the counter top and the wall. A little Formica material cove type molding, but flat without the cove. They were peel and stick and were the same color as the counter top.

I tried getting some today and most people didn't even know what I was talking about. I even called the Formica Corporation and they didn't even know. I guess they got phased out with the popularity of back splashes.

Re: What Happened To Formica Moldings ??

I think in most applications I've seen there was no cove molding. Most installers just started wrapping the material straight up the wall in one piece. At least from what I've seen in this area. Of course, most of the time we're ripping them out to put in a new top and backsplash.

Here in Philadelphia there is a company that sells the metal mouldings, it might be named American metal moulding corp? @ American St. and Berks St. in North Phila.
