Tiling over Existing Marble in Shower

Hi there...I've got a question for you bathroom guys. The other day I looked at a bathroom with a shower that has marble tile on all the walls. Is it possible to tile directly over marble? Is there anything that you guys would recommend to avoid demo'ing the marble?

Thanks!

Kev, the tub will be replaced wth a vinyl tub. I assume that the substrate is durock or something similar. This is in a luxury high-rise near Manhattan...

You'd be shocked to see how poor the construction often is in a "Manhattan luxury high rise" Do a little investigating first and then write an estimate to do the job properly. You may find that removing the marble and its substrate is mandatory.
