New Kitchen

We started an addition a little over a year ago and had to stop right after we got dried in because business slowed down.

Happy to report that we are getting things going again and the kitchen is on it's way!

We've got all the bottom cabinet boxes built and installed. Next, we will be finishing up the upper cabinet boxes and the building the cabinet faces and doors out of Mahogany.

It's nice to build something nice for my house for a change! I'll post more pic's as progress continues. I've given myself a Christmas deadline.

Mine are held locally at Woodcraft, I keep telling them that is not the best place to have it.
Looks good, you are a bit farther than I am with my kitchen, I had a few obsticles, tore off whole kitchen, found the sistern, had to move basement steps, blah blah. Those tools ar egonna help make your life a bit easier and your work a bit nicer, but you allready have that figured out by now!!

Looks nice so far Jason! I'm assuming you are going with ceramic for counters?

Hey Warner,

Do you use the disposable bags for your CT or do you have the re-usable one?

Jason, I took out the trash as requested. I also put the offender into the doghouse for 7 days, so enjoy a snow free week.

Good luck on that kitchen, Christmas will be here in no time.

The Disposable ones, I try to keep one in each tool systainer. They suck when you have to empty one so you can use it again to finish a few cuts.

Looks like you have a pretty good start there. I can tell you that the "rule book" recommends two-layers of 3/4" plywood for a tile CT.

Not that I'm doubting you, but that would mean 1 1/2" of wood, thinset and 3/8" backer, thinset and 3/8" tile.

I'd be looking at a 2 3/4" edge! I cant even imagine how bad that would look. Never ever seen anything like that done Why would they call for that much on the CT and not on the floor? The floor will see much more deflection than those tops ever will.

Didn't make the Christmas dead line at all

To many things going on at my paying job to get it done, but I did manage to get my new top for the island done this week. It's a Maple top with Mahogany feature strips.

Everything else is a little dusty, sorry about that. The edging is being milled next week from Mahogany as well.
