my 1st kitchen

so i asked you guys a few days ago how to build with melamine, and i got some good response, thanks guys, here it is
i am almost done going on day 9, i did all by my self, and i was sick for 4 days straight, i reno the powder room and the entire kitchen
oh im still sick, must be all that old dust

i shot nails 16g and glue wood side to melamine, i know you guys said not to and its pretty obvious, but i didnt care

anyone seen these toilets before, the tank is massive about 3 times of todays,

and after building these cabinets i realize i need a bigger table saw and a shop i cant make perfect cuts on anything larger than 25"

whats the reach on a radial arm saw?

I made some cabinets out of melamine once.

The good news is that it is easy to take them apart again to burn. I unscrewed my screws to save them and was able to pull the pieces apart quite easily. The glue is just holding sawdust to another piece of sawdust.

Fortunately, I didn't pay for the stuff. The guy I got it from asked me when i could take the rest of his melamine and I told him that any melamine would have to be melayours.

Good luck and keep it away from any water. From time to time you see sponges which you buy which are just little flat sheets. The first time you use them, you hit them with water and they get real big. I think the same technology was used to make melamine.

This seems like a strange thread/topic right here. But I'll say this, we all make our mistakes and learn from them, hopefully?

Yea, even 20,000 kitchens is made from melamine, so ohh well, i dont like the stuff at all, but to use wood or ply and laminate, is ridiculously expensive. my 1st kitchen you live you learn..

Hmmm, well it looks like work in progress. Congrats on your first kitchen and you'll have to take pics of the finished product.

Maybe not the new trees though.

You might consider moving that glass top range out on the back porch or in the garage next time you do this much work. Sorta risky working around other people's stuff that can be easily moved out of the road.

Is that cup under the sink trap to catch water from a leak? I think with the melamine you might wanna fix that plumbing REAL SOON!

If the dust is making you sick, you need some type of dust control. You want to try to stay healthy. I can see that you are a hard worker.

i have a 7X7 malemine platform that i drop the table saw into,
if you need to cut larger than 25 inches you can cut from the offcut side

never need a radial arm saw on a kitchen project

the table is necessary to make cuts like that solo....

Here is the final pics, took 3 1/2 weeks to build on the spot from start to finish, being sick through the entire build, i did the whole thing my self, and was with my gf in hospital for 5 days for our baby.

what i learned
Bigger table saw needed to make straight cuts over 25"
end strip needs to be in big rolls, i bought 12 for this project @ $9 each a large roll was $30 but i couldn't find any

other than that this was fun and ill never do it again until i build in a shop

PS i got the tiles for $10 at centura, i have only heard of such thing, now i know, but ill never give them to a client, when i was putting on the grout i seen a rainbow LOL, you pay for what you get, i got a feeling its gonna be white in a few wipes with bleach

Looks remarkably well.

Get used to being sick. As soon as your wife stops breast feeding, your child will get sick and stay sick. You'll do the same. I don't know how long this lasts. I'll let you know when I know. At least a winter.

Forget the tablesaw cutting cabinet plywood, use a clamped straightedge and a circle saw.

Congrats on the new family member!
