Question Ikea Cabinets ?

Is anyone familiar with ikea cabinets? i have never worked with them, but i cant help but think that they are inferior. i am judging them just because i know some stuff at ikea is sh##. some ikea stuff is ok, some is not, when i look at them in the showroom, they dont look half bad, they have that machine going, that opens the door 30 trillion times a day, i must admit, that impresses me. does anyone know how they really rate comparred to other euro cabs? thanks.

I'd be interested too. Not all of my work is custom.

I have done 2 Ikea kitchens and although cheap I like them. Lots of fillers if you aren't careful. They look good and go up OK. The doors don't have great hinges but I did fine with them anyway. Drawers work well and the boxes looked as good as my kitchen which is full custom (European). Almost made me wish I went with IKEA and saved money.
I do custom, semi-custom and refacing. IKEA'S kitchen design software works pretty good also.

I'am following you and your Post today. Did a condo conversion. with 10 kitchens the boxes arrived and we where like wtf there where like 100 boxes took them back to the warehouse had 3 guys screw all the cabinets together loaded them on the dump truck ran them over to the condos and slap and slid them on the rail system. cheap quality but with the countertops and hardware they look ok

I have done a couple of Ikea cabinets one with a white finish another with what they call med brown both turned out pretty good but I would not use their counter tops pretty cheesy looking. They are a pretty clean install but the kick plates do not match the cabinets in color and are floppy/loose when using the supplied mounting hardware. Accessories such as side panels are expensive for particle board. I have not had any complaints about long term use of the drawer slides or hinges.

The only draw back is trying to figure out the Swedish name for cabinet door #6

Here's what I did on my second IKEA kitchen-------------

I built a 2x4 frame off the floor, leveled it because it was an older home and then used the prefinished plywood for a toe kick finish. This was fast and clean and looked great. No adjustable legs. I just set the boxes on top. Install toe kick finish and base shoe before you set the boxes.

Yeah, the first kitchen was WTF when you open the boxes and look at those instructions
