When Does DensShield Become Overkill

installing dens shield around a bath tub, the tile is going just up to the window sill. the top of the wall ill just skim coat and paint.

do you guys recommend using 'dens shield' or 'dens armor plus' around the window and up the rest of the wall?

i talked to a rep at gp and she says you can use either. wonder if the dens shield is complete overkill or not she was hesitant to answer that.

oh yeah one more question...any cool tips for the inside and outside corners?

thanks guys im new here but already learned some pretty cool tips in other sections

Re: When Does DensShield Become Overkill

yes there is a shower.

the window sill starts at 74" off the unfinished floor. we are going to tile up to the bottom of the sill, but not on the sill directly. the shower head will be up at around 78"

bath is 5' x 8' and i just put in a 70cfm bathfan if that makes a difference.

I've used stranger things than that.

NOW would be a good time to replace that window. He has gone this far.

Re: When Does DensShield Become Overkill

This one is easy. The window should be changed now tho if that's what they intend to do in the near future.

Otherwise, wallboard it and waterproof it, slope the window return about 5 (or so) degrees, caulk the window below and above the tile.

OH! And that's a bad place for the exhaust fan.

we were thinking that but i dont have enough experience to give my buddy proper advice. they want to install retrofit windows...but to me the old windows will only come out if they bust out the exterior stucco and remove the entire window. really love to hear advice on that can we remove the insides of these windows but leave the frame and just install retro fits??
