Wet Saw Anti Freeze


Hey guys,
we are currently working on a small remod and there is no place to set up the tile saw inside.our wet saw feeds freeze up after 3or 4 cuts,is there a anti freeze i could add to the water that wont effect the thinset or the tile ?

I've heard of people using isopropyl alcohol, but I can't say for sure if it doesn anything to the thinset bond. What I'll usually do is run one of those pail water heaters in the tray of the saw. The pump comes in overnight so it's not too cold, and when I first get going, I'll dump heated water over the hood of the saw so it's not so frigid cold any more, and then leave the saw running. So long as water's constantly running thru the lines, especailly warm water, it's not going to freeze up.

Same here, heating the water is the ticket. I have heard of guys using anti-freeze made for RV's but I have never done it. I don't know if that is the same anti-freeze Bill is referring.

I have also used a kerosene torpedo-type heater directed to blow directly under the saw and that will also keep the components and water at a manageable temperature.

That thing sticking vertically out of the tray all the way in the back is the heater. If you notice, the time of year is just about right now (4 years ago!) and this is up in Maine:

Bill has got it. when I was up North we used a bucket water heater....worked great.
