I'm curious about the method used in this photo. If I understand what I am seeing in this picture, what keeps the water from wicking into the concrete and migrating back under the hot mop?

The water very well could/will wick under the concrete.The hot mop is pre-sloped and there are holes weep holes to allow the water to go down the drain.The water will not get through the hot mop.

So......that is a vinyl pan liner I am looking at that has been bordered with hot mopping and this is a preslope?

Oh.....OK OK I get it now maybe. That is the top cast concrete ready for tile in the hot mopped receptor. Right? I couldn't tell from the photo if I was looking at vinyl or concrete. I'm still not sure.

Why are those edges so wavy? I'm havin' a helluva time seeing this thing. If those are wavy sides hows that work?

It does not need to be perfect......

After all that is done you put your mortar bed in then Bob's your uncle....

Had them out today...Looks great.

Wouldn't it be easier to eliminate the water going into the concrete in the first place??

It's just a back up.I just tore up one just like skyhooks and there was no water penetration at all.
