Question

Tiling Outside


Anyone have any exerience tiling outside in the Northeast?

I was looking or thinking about a no slip type of tile to use around my pool/hot tub area. Its a 6" slab.

use a porcelain tile that is frost proof

I like to use acrylic/latex addmix in the thin-set and grout to strenghthen the bond, decrease water absorption, and prevent cracking

and make sure your grout lines maintain your expansion joints in slab

Check out Schluter.com for their systems that allow tile in cold climates. They are also located in Plattsburgh, NY. As you know that is an area with plenty of cold.
I have successfully tiled outdoors in the past. I should add that every time it was with Schluter products.
