Didn't mean to leave you out Bill, it's just that that one photo tells the story beautifully.
The same indicators of an excellent install are also in your photos but the one above is striking.

Re: Spacing Granite?
That is just SWEET! The perfect reflections are how I tell if a job was done propery and those floors reflect like a mirror.

Teetorbuilt-- absolutely right. The reflection doesn't lie!! ![]() I talked to Mick the other night. I'm going to see about buying enough for a couple hundred feet just on spec so that the next stone job I have, it's right here, and I don't have to go and order it. I just had one-- about 3500 feet of 18" travertine in a hotel lobby, but I couldn't get in touch with him quick enough, so this way, I won't have that problem next time.

Re: Spacing Granite?
Yea go with 1/16 (instead of butting them together) due to several factors ... One you can actually grout the granite which will protect from any liquids etc getting between the granite... Also give you a little more wiggle room to make adjustments as need be.. and the list goes on..

Re: Spacing Granite?
Also you may look into the mudset method for setting this stone. I use Portland cement with very very dry minx. Then spead some latex thinset on the substrate/slab, and also back butter the ENTIRE piece of stone. Then make a nice fluffy level bed of the portland, place the stone gently down on top of the mud, and pound it into the bed lightly until it is perfectly flush with the surrounding stone. Check each piece individually with a small level, and then be sure to use progressivly larger levels through-out the job. The reason I like this method is that granite is much much more heavy than tile, and most of the thinset out there is not meant to hold that kind of weight up. Also if you had some really bad dips and valleys in the slab it will be very very difficult to build a thinset bed deep enough and keep it level, also the deeper you go the more the pieces of stone will sink. Hope this was helpful

Re: Spacing Granite?
Try using either one of the non-sag thinsets, or medium bed mortar. Works alot better than conventional thinsets for exactly the reasons you cited.
