Sand Or Unsanded


witch type of grout is used for tub/shower( sand or unsanded)and witch type is for the floor and why?

It depends on joint thickness as well as the tile used.

joints are 1/8"
ceramic tile 10 x 13

1/8 & less unsanded

The sand is a filler for larger joints

It doesn't sound like you've done much tile work!! I would really recommend getting the TCNA handbook on tile installations and spend some time going through the posts on this forum. Both will give you a lot of info. Also, if you want to be at the top of your game, look into Schluter products.

And, as mentioned, sanded or un-sanded is all about the joint width and depth - unless you are like me and use epoxy grout - which is the best and can be used for any joint width
