Is it possible to put your tile down on an OSB flooring? I have removed the vinyl so I have a cleen surface to tile on.

Yes, its possible. But its a bad idea. If the os"b" is sturdy (no flex), you should put down 1/4" sheets of hardi back over the area and attach them with the specified backer board screws at the specified spacing. You should leave a small gap between them and then tape the seams with the correct mesh tape and apply a thin layer of thinset to the tape just like you would tape drywall joints. Then you tile on top of the hardi back sheets.

Let me expand on what Mike said, he left out a few things. The question was if one could install tile directly onto OSB. The answer of course is NO. Not it's a bad idea. Just NO.

One approved method is to install HardiBacker or other cementboard and tile over that. Great, but you must install any CBU into thinset mortar and then fasten with the approved screws or roofing nails. This is very important but some contractors and even many tile installers haven't bothered to learn the right way to do things.

Before any of this, you should make sure your subfloor system is stiff enough for tile and prep'd properly.
