Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

My first choice would be a Target, but no big deal, it's a sister company to Felker. The thing is they both use Baldor motors, and that makes all the difference in the world. Keeping in mind what I said about MK's vs. Rigids, check out the following article, and remember-- my partner's saw was a brand new oversized MK 101:

http://powerpr.com/articles/articles.asp?include=971

This article will explain why I'm so hung up on the Baldor motors:

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

It will cut 14" diagonals on a 10"x10" tile but if you know the saw and have used it before you can get it to cut a larger tile. It will cut a depth of 3 3/4". You cannot compare the tm75 with the sc. The tm 75 has half the horepower and the depth of cut is also about half what the Super Compact is.

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Hey Guys, New here to your site. I have been installing tile since 1982, and still have my Target TA10101 or whatever number it is everything still works except a helper loaded it in my truck and it fell out and bent the frame. I have also had a MK 101 Pro 24, (beast of a saw) just sold it. So I need a new wet saw. Initially just thought I"ll buy another 10" baldor motor Target, been a great saw! Found out Target is no more and is now Husqvarna, but the saw looks to be the same only with different colors and a SS pan.

So I am in a delema thinking do I buy the Husqvarna for $1200 and change, or do I get the Dewalt or even maybe the Rigid. My old school frame of mind brain says "Buy the Husqvarna/Target."

Thoughts?

Thanks

Alex

ANYTHING but Ridgid

Actually, I just got a Felker TM Plus for under $1000. Look for the deals, they're out there.

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Ya know ...when a 10" Target has lasted 27 years and still would be cutting straight other than falling out of my truck...it's hard to go to any other saw! 99.9% sure I am going to buy the new Husqvarna/Target Stainless Steel model.

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Just skipped over the post. I personally don't do a lot of tile, maybe 4-6 jobs a year. I use a sigma snap hand cutter, best damn non power cutter I've owned. Faster to cut the tile right there. However I use a cheap wet saw for electrical boxes and odd cuts. Thinking of investing in a compact quality wet saw. From what I've read, a compact Felker is the way to go. Any thoughts out there? Can I get one for under 500.00?

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Thanks Bill! I will do that indeed! The Felker Tile Master X3 and the Husqvarna Tilematic TS 250 X3SS wet saw seem to be the same saw only the colors are changed and the Felker has a plastic pan and the Husqvarna has a stainless steel pan.

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

I just looked on ebay for grins to see what was there. Seems you can get, I'm guessing a China made MK knock off for $400 bucks with a blade and a
stand including shipping. You can search ebay type in: PRO-SERIES 27" 10" blade 2.5hp Wet Tile saw, to see it. Only $400 shipped, but I can't take a chance, interesting though!

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

thanx for the replies. I will be on the eBay and craigslist for deals for above mentioned models. I spent 350.00 on the sigma so I figure with the amount of tile I do shouldn't go over 1,000. Have any of you tile guys used a sigma? Beats going up and down stairs for cuts on a upstairs bathroom.

I spoke with the Felker/Husqvarna guys at Coverings and they are discontinuing all saws smaller than the X3. If you're looking for the TM-75, you better do it quickly. There were no immediate plans to develop replacement versions.

That's good to know. I've been thinking about picking up TM-75 for jobs where the Supertilematic is overkill (like MOST of em). Guess I'd better get it done!

I was involed with a 3500 sq. ft job of 18"x18", 1/2" thick travertine. Had 2 Dewalt saws on the job, but we needed 1 more so the help wasn't standing in line waiting to make a cut. Saw the Rigid, nice features, cheaper than the Dewalt. After 3 wks, the switch went out on it. After the first day, I thought that would be a problem. The repair estimated cost was unacceptable. Needless to say, it paid for itself, but will go Dewalt for the 3rd saw next time. Just my experience!!!

You can't go wrong with that little saw Bill, I love mine....you'll end up using it more than you think, I'd be willing to bet.

That's what I'm thinking, too. With something like that, the only time the Target will come out is when it's needed, and that's rarely-- like maybe 20% of the time.

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Been doing a bunch of contemplating on saws. Looked on CraigsList this morning and saw a very well kept and not abused Target TA10100 1 1/2hp lil' darling!!! A homeowner DIYer had bought it to do his tile work at his leisure and no longer needed it. $450.00 and it is all mine! Super happy with my new Target. If you look close to the left you can see my 27 year old Target in the corner. Still runs, now to find a frame for it!

Speaking of the Felker, I've been shopping for a new wet saw and was looking at the TM Plus at contractorsdirect.com. They have the TM Plus (6391K) for $958.99 and the TM X3 Plus (9637) for $1,028.99. I compared both and can't see any difference. Both offer free shipping, stand and 3 pc. cutting kit (whatever that is). What am I missing?

Re: New Ridgid Wet Saw

Three piece cutting kit is the 45 degree miter block the wing nuts to the rolling tray you also get a protractor and another 45 degree attachment. For me not a big selling factor, the cutting kit.
