target oh wait huskervanua or whatever it is or mk
i have
mk 101
target supertilematic
dewalt saw
old target tilematic
& little 7" workforce crap saw
the baldor motor in the mk and target will last years and years the direct drive motor found on dewalt and ridged will fail sooner trust me i can tell be the stress i hear on my dewalt and the motor is just smaller
when the direct drive fails you might as well throw the whole thing in the trash the belt drive baldor motor will last for ever , is more quiet just all around better only plus side to my dewalt it has mitre and plnge cuts , side tray and rear for great water containment and it is lighter than hell but i only use it for bath room remodel or back splash all lagre floors with alot of cuts i bring out the big dogs

My Target just proved itself again on a job I've been working on the last few weeks. It wasn't a good thing, though. I was on a hotel job with four other crews, and this last week we were all down in the health spa, doing different areas. Two of the crews had Dewalts, one had an MK101, and I had my target. I was working on 12x12 emperador, in the mens showers while another crew was doing the same in the womens showers. The other two crews were doing 24x24 tiles that were actually 1/8" thick emperador laminated on 3/8" thick porcelain in the mens and womens bathrooms. All 4 saws were lined up in one room, and other than the crew doing the womens showers, my saw was the only one being used. The other saws just could not handle the thicker bigger porcelain. You could hear them bogging right down as a piece of that 24x24 would get run through. My saw went thru it like a hot knife thru butter. As a result, there's a Dewalt and an MK going up on Craigs list this week, and two new Tergets being ordered.

Of course, that meant that I either had to wait sometimes to use my own saw, or use one of the other ones sitting there not being used!!

rigid saw

Just wondering how the rigid worked out for you. Im ready to buy one from these reviews. If not I just might break the bank and buy Pearl Abrasives cx10(for 950.00!!!!!) 2hp 15 amp table and saw move toward each other huge cutting capabilities only weighs 45 pds and then down the road I might buy the WET TENT for 250 so you can cut in the house

Any views on Pearl Abrasives

I have had mine (Ridgid) for about 2 months or so now....maybe 15-1600 ft of tile work, from cheap ceramics to hard ass porcelains and some stone. If you do re-model work and aren't as concerned with production power and speed as you are with features and ease of use, the the Ridgid or the Dewalt saws are fantastic. Good power, great features (bevel, plunge, awesome cart, laser, water control) and is surprisingly very well made. That being said, if you are a commercial or production oriented crew where speed and brute force is the name of the game, buy a Target/Felker and be done with it. Imho a good tile man will have multiple saws to fit the type of work he's doing at the time......I own four and tile is only 35% of my business at this point

Let me try to understand.....is it really Felker, Target or Husqvarna OR is it a baldor motor?

Is there really a difference between the saws minus the motor?

I think It is the motor. I have a MK 101 pro and set right nex to my buddies Target they seem to be spot on cut for cut. I am not strickley a tile man, so I cannot vouch for production volume. All I can say is that the Baldor motors are sweet.

Angus-- for the most part, it's the motor, being that it determines the strength of the saw. I DO have an old MK101, and I do mean old (bought new by my father in 1983-- now it's Adam's ). It's a dual voltage (original) Baldor, and I've never had any major problems from IT, either. You just can't beat those Baldor motors, and unfortunately, the Targets and Felkers are now the only companies that use em any more.

Bill,
I just recently purchased a MK 101 pro with a Baldor Motor on it. I stole it (well not really) but I only paid 250.00 for it brand new, it was a special order that someone returned, never picked up? Do you meant that they dont use the dual voltage motors on any thing other than the targets now?

Actually, I'm not sure if they use the dual voltage motors AT ALL-- on ANYTHING. The MK I have is the only saw I've seen in over 20 years that had a dual voltage motor on it. My Target Supertilematic is 110 only.

Cool, My new MK has a baldor motor, probably the main reason that I bought it, it might only get used once a month but for that price who cares!

Thanks for the offer. I looked at the tm 75 felker decent price but doesn't do larger tile. I would like a every day saw with option to go 16" If I need larger then either borrow yours or rent a large mk. The Felker 150 is near a grand i believe. Cant believe I've been doing the 300 sq/ft porcelain with my little plasiplug fortunately all my cut are going under 1/4 round. If I start with larger jobs that warrant larger saw then look at larger felkers or target

I told him if it happend again I would be coming to get my money and going to get the dewalt saw.

What a jacka55. Im with you, if it craps out again, it gets replaces with another maker.

Felker 150

Yes, the felker 150 does plunge cuts. I know because I have one.

That thing basically looks like a Target standard sized G-2 with a yellow hood and plastic tray!

Purchased new rigid

Its not a target or felker but it seems to work well, laser seems to vibrate out of line but adjust it on your first cut and it works well. THe rear water tray does leak where it meets the tray but I have been cutting 16 x 16 so there is water everywhere. I do have a problem using a the plunge cut for my vent openings. I have went thru 8 tiles all are cracking, i been scoring them front and back then slowly going deeper then they crack. Any suggestions, maybe a better blade. Or should I just use my 4" dewalt grinder Any websites to find good 10" blades
