Need Design Ideas For Shower
I'm remodeling my own bathroom and I'm seriously stuck on a design for the stand up shower. I removed my one piece tub and will be building a 32" x 60" tile shower in it's place. The bath is small 8' x 8'. I am thinking of using a white marble looking porcelain tile for the walls. Possibly a 12" x 12" or 9" x 18" tile to keep grout lines to a minimum in the shower area. Any idea's for the floor of the shower? Ideas to break up the large white wall ? Not going to crazy on design as it's a bathroom thats gets used daily and not into super bling bathrooms in my own place.

If you check the following gallery, you'll see a section dedicated to bathrooms. Maybe you'll see something there that will strike your fancy:

If you'd like to keep it really simple--consider a one piece cultured marble base for the shower. You can run the tile right down to it and it will be very low maintenance (which is what it sounded like you were going for). Here's an example:

There are a few that actually look pretty decent: http://www.wrightworks.net/images/m120_2022.JPG But be careful of the off the shelf, home center variety. Some have weird colors that will date themselves pretty quickly. Your best bet is to find a picture of something you really react well to and try to find something close to recreate it.

Re: Need Design Ideas For Shower
I am just working on a bathroom with similar dimentions as yours. i removed a 32 x 60 tub and put in a schluter shower kit with an off center drain. I frammed a shower seat that will have a nice piece of granite on it. I also put a small frammed wall the same width of the seat to have a place to put the shower curtain up against. As for the floor of the shower the schluter kit has a pre sloped pan that you can put mosaic tile on and it has a 4 x 4 square drain so 4 tiles fit right around it. Its a real slick system but they garantee it not to leak. Definitey great for no more call backs. More and more guys are going to this system. Anymore questions let me know

Re: Need Design Ideas For Shower
Here's the shower pan with honed carrara marble in a herringbone layout.
And a marble baseboard and pencil border.

Re: Need Design Ideas For Shower
Here's the crown detail with the same "chair rail" used on tub surround. A soldier stack and pencil border.
Yes the crown in ungrouted. It was a changeorder. Explaining the wierd cuts underneath it.

Re: Need Design Ideas For Shower
This is exactly what I needed to jog the brain. Nice work everyone. Going with a spin off of bill v's ghatto/justins/khiel projects. Using tile from local tile shop I do business with. I imagine I'll get some color variation, I will match best as possible prior to installing. Using the schluter kerdi as well. Going to build my own mud bed rather then use their panels and curb. Thanks for all the input.

Re: Need Design Ideas For Shower
Bill,
"Livingston18" is amazing. Just taking the time to cut around that 'racetrack' is an arduous task. And the curvatures in the tub. wow!
