Re: Mapei Products ?

Look it up on the Internet and post the link here please.

According to the Mapei website their "search" doesn't turn up the product name you are asking about. Are you sure you have the name correct? I have never heard of it but that doesn't mean anything.

Re: Mapei Products ?

Isn't that a concrete patching product? Maybe you'd have better luck in the concrete forum????

Mapei makes some great concrete SLC resurfacers but I don't remember any of the names. That particular name doesn't Google for me.

Re: Mapei Products ?

The Planitop products are for concrete restoration and repair.

The Mapei web site lists Planitop 12 thru planitop 25 as well as an X and XS.

http://www.mapei.us/

Look under "Concrete restoration systems"
Then click on "concrete repair mortars"

What exactly are you planing to do with this stuff?

We used this mapei planitop 12 last Friday. We are doing a really cool all thin brick wine cellar with a ribbed groin vault ceiling. After I framed the ceiling,we screwed metal lath to it and put 2 coats of the fiberglass reinforced mapei planitop 12 onto the lath as a scatch coat. We started layong the thin brick today on the walls. The planitop 12 has a 28 day 9600 psi. We are using Mapei ultralite thinset to lay the brick.I did a test by back buttering a brick and stuck it to the ceiling and I could not pull the brick off with my fingertips 30 seconds after setting it.I had to use the tip of my trowel to pry the brick off. When we put the brick on the ceiling,It aint going nowhere. If anyone knows how to post pictures let me know cuz I can't get it to work.

Re: Mapei Products ?

I'm curious!

Why would you need a 9600psi for a wall and ceiling?

We're setting the brick to C.M.U. on the walls, so we are not using this on the vertical surfaces. As for the ceiling we wanted a little overkill to make sure there is no movement.

Re: Mapei Products ?

OK just curious. But, what you have done won't ensure there will be no movement. OK OK OK, I'm out of it!

Bud I agree there is no way to 100% ensure no movement, but when I fiuure out how to post pictures of the framing you'll see we did everything possible.

you dont want 0 movent, thats when things crack
though it sounds like your groin vaulted ceiling is very thoroughly constructed.

there are several ways:

you can resize the photo and reduce quality until its under this forums 200kb size limit. save the new image somewhere. then go to attachments (paperclip icon) and upload it here.

another way is get a photobucket account (its real easy and you can give a fake name and address just need a working email account). once you have an account you just load the pictures to your computer, then go to photobucket and upload the pics no need to resize them. once you have them saved on photobucket you click one of the four options (image code for forums), then come here and type your post. right click on hit paste where you want to image to appear in the post. good luck!!!

heres an example. WARNING dont try this at home

used mapei novoplan2 yesterday im really happy with it came out awesome. they make a super fast setting one called ultraplan1 but never used it. they also make a novoplaneasy but it sounds like a stupid way to save $5 for a cheaper product but then again i could be way off
