Re: Fixing Marble To Walls

How thick are the slabs?

Drywall normally wouldn't be considered a good substrate for stone slabs and YES there is generally a mechanical attachment involved.

How about just a teensie tinsy little bit more information.

Whoops, I see that now (17mm) how about a conversion.

Re: Fixing Marble To Walls

How much marble is this? A backsplash only? Or a whole wall? If its a whole wall, why so thick?

17 millimeters = 0.669291339 inches
600 millimeters = 23.6220472 inches
300 millimeters = 11.8110236 inches

About 24x12 and a bit more than 1/2 inch. Why not marble tile 24x24 cut in half?

Thats not much of a slab per say. Marble slab installers do 3/4 thick large backsplashes all the time with 2 part epoxy. We just finished a kitchen with an installed slab 3/4" thick, 36" wide, bout 5 feet tall in one section for the backsplash. Went from countertop to the ceiling.

Ive seen in commercial work, where they attach a hanger to the back of the marble/granite and that sits on an opposing hanger on the wall. But they all sit on one another for support, and this is work where all the wall is giant slabs.

Re: Fixing Marble To Walls

Depending on exactly what type of marble, modified thinset will fix it in most cases.
