Epoxy On Tile

HEY ALL

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET EPOXY OFF OF FLOOR TILE?

MY WOOD FLOOR INSTALER CAME BACK TO FILL A COUPLE OF LOW SPOTS / HOLLOW AREAS WITH EPOXY THAT HE DIDN'T NOTICE ON INSTALATION, YEA RIGHT.

ANYWAY HE DRILLED A SMALL HOLE IN THE FLOORING AND FILLED THE VOID WITH EPOXY BUT HE DRIPED SOME ON A TILE FLOOR IN A WATER CLOSET NEARBY.

SO HOW CAN I GET THIS STUFF OFF!! SHORT OF USING C4
NO USE CALLING HIM HE IS FIRED

THANKS

If the tile is ceramic try Aqua Mix "NanoScrub"

Re: Epoxy On Tile

Heat gun and a good stiff plastic scraper, epoxy hates heat.

Only if this is ceramic though.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

One way you you could remove the epoxy is to let water sit on it for a while (might take an hour, might take a day. Then you get a sharp scraper to get at the edges. It may come up as one or piece by piece but it should work.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

Water should not have any effect on epoxy, heat will.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

water getting under epoxy will do the trick, along with gently scraping at the edges. It will get to the edges. If you use too much heat, it may take of the surface off the tile if it has bonded. I have used this method successfully. To remove spilled epoxy it is better if it is brittle.
I don't mean for the water to sit on top of the epoxy.

Good luck with that, epoxy is waterproof.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

If you could think of a way to spot freeze it, then shatter the brittle epoxy. Freon?...Co2?....I dunno...just a thought. Heat might make it gummy.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

the water isn't meant to break down the epoxy but will break the bond with the tile. It will also help reduce the friction when using a scraper to remove the spill.
Freezing the epoxy might also do the trick. Good shout.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

Don't know what epoxy this is, but epoxy grout is used all the time, water has NO effect on it, the tile will break before the bond from the epoxy will.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

from the first post, it isn't epoxy grout but a (probably) self levelling epoxy. Scraping won't break the tile. Believe me, I've done it myself over the years (22) in resin flooring.
Unless all those years have been a waste of time.

Re: Epoxy On Tile

You can try an epoxy remover called Jasco. You can find it in the paint aisle at Home D. Good Luck!
