Cutting Porcelain Tile
Hi ,
I am doing a bath project laying some porcelain tile (brand name antica venizia ,made in italy ) nice product 12x24 etc . My problem is i have a ton of straight cuts but cannot seem to get any more than 60% of them clean . Wet saw works ok but takes to long . Man is this stuff tough ! I installed a new cutting wheel still getting very poor results . Any tips from the experts Thanks in advance Tom |

Re: Cutting Porcelain Tile
You should be able to rent a 36" tub saw, we have a number of times. or take a piece of 3/8"plywood on you sliding bed and raise the blade, so you do not cut throuhg the plywood. Adjust as required, the plywood should back the tile....the best is a bigger saw...

Re: Cutting Porcelain Tile
It sounds like your trying to cut the tile on a tile cutter instead of a wet saw. Forget it ! It may take longer on a wet saw but least it will cut it and not waste your tile and time.

Tom,
What brand and model cutter do you have? Pass that info along, someone is likely to have some tips. Jaz |

Re: Cutting Porcelain Tile
a wet saw with a diamond blade rated for porcelain tile will cut through like butter

Re: Cutting Porcelain Tile
in the future if you encounter this and if you have only a few cut,s you mark your tile take a wet sponge and using your makita 4 inch grinder with a tile blade put the wet sponge against the left side of the grinder and follow the line that you have drawn you will take a while but you will get a cut that resemble a wet saw cut exactly just be patient and you will see it works great on any type tile
