Care To Share Ideas For 2 Person Shower?

I'm working with a HO and designer on creating a master bathroom in a remodel job where the desire is to have a 2 person shower and a tub large enough for a 6'3" person. Those 60"x60" corner tubs-would that be sufficient for a tall person? Any recommendations for sizing the 2 person shower? Designer came up with a 4'3" x4'7" shower the first time but after I informed them of the cost to rip out a chimney....they redisgned and came back with changes to include a 5'1" x 5'5" shower. Any opinion on a 'good' shower size? I would be concerned with one too large that it could get cold...current plans show one head. well water, don't have city water pressure/volume-not sure multiple heads can be supported with the water system.

Over the years I've had many ideas
for a two person shower.

But this isn't the proper forum
for any of them.

I have a32"x32" that is more than large enough for me and she. Anything more than that should give plenty of wiggle room.

I wouldn't call it a two person shower necessarily unless 2 people can shower at the same time which means it has to have 2 heads running at the same time. What you are describing just is more just a bigger shower with one head, not really a 2 person shower.

A 5'x5' shower is huge, that's 25 square feet.

The smallest by code is 30"x30" which is 6 square feet, so you're talking 400% larger, that's big.

Corner tubs aren't usually big enough for a tall person, a bigger tub for a tall person almost always calls for a 72" straight tub. Most 60x60 corner units the tub is only 54".

She's a ballet dancer and her right foot is usually on my shoulder. Bumping could create an embarrasing 911 call.

I am with Mike Finley on this one, whats the point of a 2 person shower with only 1 head?? I hear what you are saying on the well however. You would have to see what the well volume is as well as the pressure. We had one job that required the installation of a larger pump and pressure tank. They had more than 12 gpm in volume and we ended up putting in a single 3/4" Grohe valve with 2 showerheads and 1 handshower.

I have seen other jobs where neither the water pressure or volume was checked and a custom shower system installed with 8 outlets. Problem was you could only use 2 at a time!

Yeah, the well would be a deal breaker for me, I don't have that much experience with them but everyone I ever have experienced is they lack pressure. So I understand the idea of not putting another head it there. Even when we do multi heads on regular city water, I always have to have a long conversation about their water pressure and realistic expectations.

Re: Care To Share Ideas For 2 Person Shower?

We were able to get ours into a 66" x 72" area, we have a 5 1/2 Ft tub, I am 6ft(works OK for me and she together) but a 72"tub would be that much better. It is a great compact design where we put the tub in the back wall and 2 shower unit toward the front, so you walk through the shower to get to the tub. I think it maximizes the space, she had to have a soaking tub, I wantedthe double shower. The tub very rarely is used at the same time as the shower and when you step out of the tub you step into the shower, so now water issues on a floor. Plus you it is nice to rinse as you get out of the tub. I can post some pics. if you would like. As for the well, I do not see that as an issue, you can increase pressureon the tank easily if that is what you need, more likely you would need to run larger service lines to the fixture than normal. In our case we ran 3/4" (rather than the typical 1/2")to the shower and tub fixtures, volume is not an issue. We will be getting alarger hot water system though, we can use alot of water when we have both heads running. But again pressure is a none issue.

That's what I was thinking when I saw this thread. Does yours involve a seat and a pair of stirrups?
