Memphis licensing?

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking these forums for a while and finally have a question to ask:

I'm considering starting a landscape lighting business next year. I was wondering if anyone knows what sort of licensing is required by Tennessee and the city of Memphis to do low voltage lighting, if any?

thanks!

Jonathan

Jonathan- Here you go.
The following trades do not require an exam and are based on equipment and experience:

Low Voltage (less than 70 volts) : Sound, Intercom, Fire Detection or Alarm Systems (CE-D); Telephone Lines (CE-F); and Cabling (CE-G).

Wonderful, thank you. However, the wording of that makes it sound like a license is required but you don't have to take a test for it? Can you link the page that came from?

thanks!

Jonathan- After looking at it. You only need a general contractors license if the job is in excess of 25K. Just google Tenn. LV License and you will find the state web site.
