Here to help

Thanks to Nathan for starting this thread!!!

I would like to say hello and lend a hand if needed. My name is Paul Gosselin and I am a professional landscape lighting designer/installer in central Texas.

I have 15 years of experience as an electrician and have specialized in low voltage landscape lighting for 5 years. If I can help anyone, please let me know.

Hi Paul, glad to see you here. I am a small business and have installed a few low voltage systems for friends, but never seem to get a call for it from customers. I do a lot of vacation homes that I'm sure could benefit from lighting; people just never seem to think of it or they stick out a couple of solar powered plastic units that break quick. I suspect that if offered along with landscaping it could become another source of revenue - can never have too many of those. What would you suggest as far as vacation homes, homes on a river, perhaps uplighting tips for trees? Thanks

Hello Eden Scapes, I actually live in a lake area that has many vacation/second homes. People won't think about lighting if it's never brought to their attention. For landscapers it is a great add on. If you do decide to do this more, make sure that you use only quality equipment and that you make sure to balance your voltage to the fixtures.

For lighting trees, I use bullet lights if the tree is in a bed area. If it is surrounded by turf, I use an in-ground well light. I really like to use a moonlight effect by placing a few fixtures very high in the canopy of the tree.

I use mostly Kichler products. They are of high quality and they have outstanding service. They also have a contractor program that helps in promotion of my business. I also use Vista and Hunza. These manufacturers not only produce very high quality products but they also show support for the industry by their membership to the LVLIA. www.lvlia.com

Thanks for all the advice - saw the pics - very cool. I use a lot of film recording my work; it sure helps sell the next one.
