Trick Lookin Drip System

lady has a 15'x20' balcony with 55 potted plants of various sizes. she wants a drip system put in. the plants are basically set up in three large groups. she has a single hose bib on the balcony. i have access to the copper supply line though.

will a single battery powered hose bib valve handle that many drip emitters?

any ideas on trying to hide the lines or the best looking way to split off?

was thinking 5/8" line to each of the 3 groups. then 1/4" to each pot. but not sure what looks better going inline drippers or a separate 1/4" line to each pot.

Re: Trick Lookin Drip System

I recently did a job for a very picky customer, they didn't want to see any hoses or drippers or anything, with a similar setup, but less plants. What I ended up doing was buying some clear 3/4 tubing, and attaching it to the underside of their railing hidden from view, then I bought some dripper tubing that matched their deck (white in this case) and ran each dripper up from the hidden tubing, to the outside of the plant. It actually hid everything quite well, but it was a pain in the ass.

In your case, a 3/4 line to 55 drips? Probably fine, but you should do a flow/pressure test though, it's likely their hose bib is pressure regulated to under 50psi, and it would be in your best interests to run a new line from the copper. 1gph emitters would likely do the job just fine, don't use bigger ones for potted plants, because they usually have good draining soil and run every day.
