Tractor Info

have any of you ever heard of a Kioti tractor?
We are in market and after looking on the net they don't seem too bad. 35 HP with bucket and rear attachment 3 year warranty for aroung 18K. Versus 25K for a Kabota.

When it needs service, will you be able to get parts easily? When it breaks, how quickliy will you need it fixed? When it breaks, will you fix it yoursef? If you want to sell it, how much will you be able to sell it for - assuming you can find someone to buy it?

These are all questions you should be asking yourself as you consider an equipment purchase of that magnitude. Tractors made by Caterpillar, Kubota, John Deere, etc. are some of the priciest, but they still manage to capture a pretty good piece of the market. I wonder why that is?

Re: Tractor Info

However I remember when I started seeing Kubota tractors being advertised and people were making the same questions about them. Whether the Kioti are in that class or the next tractor Yugo is anybodies guess. Wonder how much the dealer stocks and if their are any other dealers around. Also is the dealer a long time dealer that has a good rep with its other lines of equipment.

Exactly my point. I didn't say stay clear of new brands, I said make a fully informed buying decision. Determining whether or not someone else has had a good experience is only a small part of the equipment buying process.

Re: Tractor Info

as a former mechanic at a John Deere dealer, i can tell you its all about parts avaliability and service after the sale...

you have to ask yourself how its going to be used. if you're making a living with it, i'd suggest buying the brand that has the best parts and service departments in town and buy from them if they don't gouge you.

if you're a home owner bush hogging the back 40 every couple of months, you can afford to try out the new product as it isn't a paycheck if it's setting down at the shop waiting on some obscue part to come in from korea...

good luck!

Re: Tractor Info

We purchased a Mahindra this past year. They too are new to the market, but I like what I purchased. Having good luck so far. Like the good points above make sure you can get what you need when you need it.

Good Luck

Re: Tractor Info

I will tell you that we have John Deere compact tractor with loader and all the 3 point goodies. I have had it for over a year now, have not had one single problem with it, and it is used often and alot of abuse. This thing is a beast, we have done things with it that our trucks couldnt even do.. Probably the best investment in equipment that we have had in our company. I do have some friends that own a company, and they have a Kubota very similar to ours, they also love it and have no problems. Like the others said it depends on parts and service. John Deere and Kubota are big in our area, therefor we can get parts usually in under 24 hours for our equipment, alsot have the attachments ready if you ever come across a job and just want to buy the attachment rather then rent it.. you dont have to wait for one to come into stock around here.
