Maximum Coverage Sprinklers

I understand this should be directed more toward a gardening forum, but was hoping you guys/gals had some knowledge in the area.
Paid a company to tell me I need to water my lawn, and it takes 9 setups the way I have it now. So much for that day. system contains about a 2 1/2' tripod with a pulsating rotary head that shoots about a 40' radius (rated for 45 but not getting it), checked the valve and it's up to the standard 60(cfm?) as far as I can tell. Is there a Binford 2000 model that will give me better coverage? Searches didn't give me much, other than going with a pump system but I didn't want to go that route since this is, more than likely, an interim system until I trip over a bag of money to install an underground. Or is that the only alternative?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Maximum Coverage Sprinklers

What is it you have on a 2.5' tripod? What is a Binford 2000? That's not a brand I've ever heard. Forty foot radii suggest that you have an enormous lot. Is this true? What do you mean by 9 "setups"? Does that mean sprinkler heads? Is there any wind? Does it slope?

You need to tell us flow--gallons/minute--and pressure--PSI

Just an initial reaction w/o the above information: it sounds like you need to divide those nine heads into at least two stations, i.e. two separate run times. Much cheaper than adding/maintaining a pump.

I think the "Binford 2000" Is from The Tim Taylor in Home Improvement show.

Re: Maximum Coverage Sprinklers

Yes, Binford 2000 is just a joking term pulled off of "home improvements" which was a maximum model of whatever the tool. The sprinkler head is on the 2 1/2' tripod which has a hose attachment on the bottom, the rise gives it a few more feet. I meant that it takes nine setups with the sprinkler to cover the lawn. This is just a lawn sprinkler head mounted on a threaded tripod with water hose attachment on the bottom. The lawn is an acre about 80 feet across. The pressure, is the standard residential outdoor spicket, with the standard volume which is 60 cfm last time I checked (checked it by timing how long it took to fill a 5 gal. bucket)
I may have given too much info to ask the simple question of "is there a sprinkler head that will shoot better than a 45 foot radius", but I wanted to explain the whole process to save the server from catching solutions that I allready have in place.

Re: Maximum Coverage Sprinklers

Rain bird, Hunter, Toro maybe K-Rain all make a long range sprinkler. Are you sure 60cfm or is it 60 GPM (even 60gpm seems real high). Pressure will make a big difference. Rain bird has a roter and impact sprinkler that will shoot 80' plus but they do require a lot of water.

Re: Maximum Coverage Sprinklers

120, 380, whatever it takes(fletch). I could swear the number that I was checking came up to 60 and coincided with the standard rating on the shower head limits. May have been gal per hour. Then again, I may be totally wrong with my numbers, but the volume what spot on with the rating limits of your average shower head. I checked by holding a bucket up under the head and timing it to a minute,,,,,, I think. Thanks, I'll look into the brands you mentioned.
