Help Identify These Trees

This is a really bad picture that doesn't isolate them from the background, but can anyone tell me roughly what kind of trees are here in the foreground?

Can't see that well...that one closest in the front looks river birch.
What's going on at the foot, a moss garden?

Re: Help Identify These Trees

I was thinking they may be fruit trees. I don't know my trees since moving here from Alaska.

Birch was also my first thought. Closer pics of the bark will help identify it.

Also want to know the background ones. Obviously my pic isn't doing us any favors. I'll have to go back.

Re: Help Identify These Trees

I couldn't zoom in far enough. I'm betting birch as well. I do notice the opposed branch structure. That might help.

Re: Help Identify These Trees

Trees in the back look like apple trees that haven't been maintained.

I'd almost bet the tree in the foreground grew off of a stump. Looks like birch, could be cottonwood if you have that out there.

Re: Help Identify These Trees

Actually, from the way the branches spread, cottonwood. White poplar, quaking aspen, something like that is a definite possibility.

It isn't a plum, peach, cherry, apple, pear for sure.
