Which cutoff saw would you buy?

We are getting ready to retire two Stihl TS400 gas powered cut off saws with diamond blades. We use them primarily to cut concrete, pavers and retaining wall blocks and cut wet 99% of the time. We have had several problems with these saws over the years and are looking at trying out another brand. Have heard good things about the husquevarna and dolmar saws. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I used to use husqevarna (or however you spell that) when I did a lot of retaining walls and walkways and never really had a major problem either.

I use Husqvarna chain saws, and that's been my only experience with them. I wouldn't even consider another mfr.

I have always had good luck with the Stihl cutoffs so I would stay with them. If I changed I would probably go with the husquevarna, since their other saws are also top notch.

I prefer Stihl hands down. I have used other brands like partner, Husqvarna but imho Stihl has them beat

Back in the day of primarily building retaining walls, we had 2 Husqvarna and 3 Wacker/Makita saws. The Husqvarnas were top notch and rarely had problems. The Wackers would blow the seals about every 8-9 months. Do not buy their saws!

We use Stihl's, and even our old TS350 is still going strong.

What problems have you had?

Any cutoff saw is going to have problems if not maintained and kept clean. These saws have a hard life with all that dust blowing around.

Amongst cut off saws Stihl is the king, we've gone through 11 of them and won't buy anything else,we cut everything with them( wood,metal,concrete,brick,stone.....you name it), the new 14" 420 is just perfect, not too light, not too heavy, not too small, not too big, and filter is replaced once a year, definetely a top notch piece of equipment(like everything Stihl does)
Regards!

I've used hilti, and had the older ts400's and these new ones kick arse.

Another vote for the stihl. I've always had luck with their products. I've used the same handheld blower for 5 years now, ad it gets used about 15 times a day. Other than a little lube and I think it replaced a spark plug once!!!

i used to use partner and i still have 2 k950s and those are 2 beasts of a saw... now that husquavarner took them over im looking to try one of those. My local tool mechanic said that they are almost 100 percent identical... just a different color body and parts are swappable... one of my buddies had his partner k750 ran over by a bobcat... he was able to salvage most of it and place the good stuff into a husquavarner body

Stihl

3 Stihl chainsaws, and a weedwacker that work great and just bought a TS 800 cutoff saw (16'' wheel) that is a beast.... Huskies are good stuff but until I have problems with any of the Stihl line I will stick with them.

It also depends on your dealer. I go way, way, way back with my Husqvarna dealer. Buy all my Structron tools there too. Went to the Stihl dealer a few times to look. Didn't feel as warm and welcome as I do at the Husky shop.
