Subcontractor Agrement

Hello !!

I just got stiffed. I am a subcontractor. I do a lot of gutters for a lot of different ,roofers, siders, builders, and remodeling contractors. Most guys are all right, but some.....well you just can't see it coming. By then its too late. Without writing an estimate for each job, how can I protect myself ? Is there a general form that I can fax to, say a roofer that I do work for, that they would sign.
I MR. ROOFER DO AGREE TO BE CHARGED $14.00 A FT. FOR GUTTER WORK BY GUTTS-1 ON ANY ST. ANY TOWN. I AM LIABLE FOR PAYMENT ON COMPLETION. IF I DO NOT PAY I WILL BE SENT TO JAIL.
Something along those lines??????????
Does anybody have any imput????
Does anyone feel my pain???????

So many jobs I do are called in, Hey Dave, got a job on willow st. when can you do it? Its white bla bla bla . Then what I could do is fax a "form"????? and get signature?????????
Or maybe an even more general form????????

help?????????????????????????????::

Doesn't matter you do work for, a contract is still the smart way to go.

i have three trucks this time of year[5 people] maybe we are doing 15 sub jobs a week. It would take a person three days to drive around and measure, write estimates, get signatures. most of this would be redundent work anyway. An agree to pay form??

Re: Subcontractor Agrement

if you deal with the same guy alot you can still have him sign and rework the contract to various jobs and addresses, if not have them fax you work request forms you provide them, That should be easy, they give you all the information on one sheet. Start paper trails, never hurts

Re: Subcontractor Agrement

man that sucks

I am one of those that will starve before not paying a sub. Heck, I typically pay them beforehand

and aside from my recent snafu (see thread in gen discussion) they all do just great.

But yeah, you should start doing contracts. I have a couple subs that I have known (personally) for 10+ years .... we don't exchange signatures ... just go on pure trust. They know I'll pay ... and they know that if I can't pay them ... I'll wait until I can before calling them out to work

We do quite a bit of subbing as well. Most have a standard form they use..The one's who don't get one of my generic work order forms.
It's attached so feel free to check it out..

One of these is a work order form to be used for T&M short duration jobs or service calls.

The other is a short contract form for T&M work.

Just add your company info where I put "Your Company Here"

*Edit* Oh, and please remove our phone number...haha I missed that off to the side when removing our company info.
