Primer/Paint Calculation Sheet (excel)

I just spent the last hour or so on this. Let me know what you think.

Obviously you guys can alter it to suite your purposes. I'm going to add a materials cost calculator later.

Right now it calculates gallons in a prime and two coats situation.

Re: Primer/Paint Calculation Sheet (excel)

Looks pretty cool. The ceiling space on the sample room is about 60' more than it should be. A 10x12 room only has 120sq ft of space. Other than that it looks like a good tool for calculating. How much coverage per gallon is that calculating for though?

The coverage of the one thats posted there has 300' for paint and prime but I have sinced changed the one on my computer to be 350' prime and 375 paint..

Very rough estimates. Obvioulsy for new drywall and pourous substrates it will be lower.

I'm not sure what you mean. Is the program calculating it wrong? It's doing it right on my comp.

I'm going to upload a better version later. I've changed it a lot in the last hour.

I dunno, I just looked at it briefly, but that's why I said something. It said 180 and I wondered how it came up with the number?

It was 12x15 not 12x10...

The sample is L12' W15' H10'
That's the rooms dimensions

Yeah, that's about right for previously painted surfaces, maybe just a little less.

Re: Primer/Paint Calculation Sheet (excel)

I used to use a form similar to that, then I bought a laser measure, and matierial calculater. It's saved me alot of time. I think I paid less than $30 for both the measure and matierial calculater.

Where do I get such a thing? All I have is my trusty 30' stanley fat max. What is the material calculator, how's it work?

Re: Primer/Paint Calculation Sheet (excel)

Howdy fellas,

First, thanks for the calculator. Have just been cruising around the site and enjoying doing so because of the sharing atmosphere that seems to prevail....glad to have stumbled upon the place.

Question about the calculator: Do you (or any of you painters) factor in any waste percentage for your material calculations, or is it just rolled into the multiplier?

TIA.
