Does anyone have a form, which you'd give to someone when after you have finished the maintenance period as per Contract with them? Maybe a notice or letter saying the maintenance period is over and a list of ways for them to maintain their own home from now on.

Does anyone have a simple form that can be used between a contractor and subcontractor to define the scope of work, payment schedule, etc.?

Last edited by RMSF; 11-14-2007 at 07:10 AM. Reason: I should have learned more about the site before I asked my question. After looking around more, I found the forms I needed.

Access Database with Word doc contract

I don't know if anyone would be interested in this, but I thought I would put it out here just in case.
WV has a sample contract on their Division of Labor website. I took it and made it into a MailMerge MS. Word template. I then made a MS Access database that would allow me to only enter the information that I needed to edit (i.e. customer name, location, contract price, scope, payment schedule, etc)
It takes a little getting use to, but it keeps everything formatted very well and is easy to use once you set it up. I'm sure there are better ways to do this, but it works for me as I'm pretty small right now. You will need to set up the Mail Merge feature to point to the file wherever you save it on your computer, but I would be glad to help if needed. Just email me, or go to my website to contact me as well. If nothing else you can open the word doc and play with the wording.

Contractor Comparision Worksheet

After losing a few jobs to unlicensed contractors, I thought I would try adding this to my proposals. I don't know how much it will help with price shoppers.

Lien Forms Should Be State-Specific

I've looked at dozens, probably hundreds of different lien forms, and there are many good ones, and many bad ones floating around. IMHO, there are some of each provided in this string.

One good guideline to keep in mind is that lien laws vary a lot from state to state, and each state has different requirements for what goes into it, when it gets sent, how it gets sent, who receives a copy, etc. Sometimes the differences are huge, like some states imposing the requirement of having a state license before any lien can exist, or the requirement of providing a notice at the beginning of the job, as well as when the payment dispute arises. Those requirements aren't the same in every state. There are many other differences. So if the lien form doesn't specifically say that it's for "State X Form Only," it's worthwhile to have some skepticism. There are also a lot of software companies that provide 50-state forms & procedures, which is a good way to keep track.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the lien right is a business asset, and it might be an extremely valuable one. I know guys who will work on their personal vehicles, but hire a professional expert mechanic for larger equipment. It's worth keeping that in mind as well.

I am trying to put together a project folder for the workers in the field working on the projects. Does anybody have a form they use to let the guys know the number of days/hours they have on a job and also something they can use to track their time spent on the job day to day? Any samples of what your putting into a "project folder" for the guys doing the work would be greatly appreciated!

Question Sales Process and Procedures

We are trying to put together the process and procedures for our Salespeople. From the time the lead comes in right through the signing of the contract. What the duties of the salesperson should be after a contract is signed, etc. Does anybody have any examples?

Proud to know you!

GENTLEMEN, (AND THE FEW LADIES)

I have been self employed continuously for 31 years, in that time 95% of my work has been word of mouth. I have been more recently finding an almost hostile temperment to some of the non-referals that call which has caused me to come in here to seek some forms for various aspects of buisness for which I previously only needed a handshake.
In all of my years of working for the public I have encountered many 'different' people but I must say that this thread is indicitive of the true spirit of entrepreneurship I have always believed prevails .
I am a people person (mostly) and always seek to help my fellow man. As I have seen in this thread each of you has given freely and even offered support to customize in some cases .
In tough times we may be embattled with keeping good job flow and refuse to do anything but maintain high levels of workmanship. There are more and more reg's and obstacles to 'getting to the work ' and challenges from uninsured and under the table workers and a myriad of other things we have to overcome ( I am to lazy to type them all out)
But the evidence I find here tells me that quality and the commitment to fairness and value are alive and well and that for the most part we are more than willing to help each other in our endeavor to succeed.

THAT my new friends......... is Refreshing!!!

Let me say I am proud to have found so many truly amazing professionals here. I hope I can be of help to you also.

Rich
