I used builders exams software at buildersexam.com. Their software is about $100 and it works great plus it mimics the software for the test.

Why waste money on that material when in thee most screwed up state in the country you have to now take a 60 hour class that cost 750 fricken dollars, no matter what your experience or knowledge is....thanks Granholm. I love it when the governement finds new ways to make (steal) money from it's people. So most of the classes are at night and all of them are on the other side of the state, that works out great for a guy who has a current fulll time job working 2nd shift

Re: Wanted: Study Guide For MI Builders License

I took the classes last Octoeber they weren't that big of a deal, the thing is now I can't come up with the $100.00 to take the test and then pay the State another $225.00 to get my License that I know they aint going to issue me anyways, I took the Builders test back in 1998 and pass both parts turn my app into the State and they refuse to give me a License cause I was convicted of a crime back in 1975, so 30 years later they still aint gonig to issue me a Builders License, WTF!! but that's Michigan

They will issue the license as long as your previous conviction(s) are:
1. nonviolent
2. non sex- related

when I got licensed, the only study materials I used were the actual builder's class notebook they give you. Everything that was in the notebook was on the test--go figure?!

Re: Wanted: Study Guide For MI Builders License

One more note:

Michigan schools used to charge $208 for a 4 session course for the builder's license at the local community college, a few years back. Then upon completion of 60 hrs. class time, you schedule with the state to take the exam.

Now, with all the 'go green' rhetoric, the schools charge $750 bucks for a 12 session course. That sucks.

It's still worth the effort though, because, at least the license says 'this is my qualifications'....
