VA Building License

I have passed all three of the Virginia Contractor A exams, but I have just take this Building Technical Portion and I just failed it. I am really annoyed because it asks too many measurements and specifics. I did good in everything except for those questions, I always get 8 inches and 6 inches off the foundation for Sill protectiions and such confused, among other questions of the sort.
The book that I had was not very good with this, I had this Carpentry and Building Construction 2000 edition. I am assuming that the International Code 2003 will help me on this one, which is why i bought it.
Any suggestions as to what other books I should purchase, or any websites that have sample tests or information that can help me.

thanks

Re: VA Building License

I need to work on this... might be doing some commercial work in VA.

Kinda sucks that they require the license for commercial stuff.

Any good online study options?

Re: VA Building License

I dont know about online studies, I took a hour class that cost about 900 smackaroonies. Gave me all the books, practice test, ect. Only thing I learned from the class was how to highlight faster then I have ever highlighted before. When I took my class A I the only thing I failed was the advance section. I AM NOT AN ACCOUNTANT! But if you need a Practice Building Exam w/ answer sheet and all the rest of the practice exams. I can help ya out. Private message me your email and I will scan it tonight and send it your way.

Btw Frank, you bumped a 2 year old thread.

Re: VA Building License

Been so long ago. I think I used the CABO, some carpentry book, and something else.
Sorry I cant remember, I will look around and see for sure, should still have them. Problem is when I took the exams DPOR done it themselves. Now it goes through some other company.
