Rate For Fla Qualifying Agent

I'm about to recieve my initial florida GC license as a qualifying agent for my company. What is the going rate of compensation for this? What would I charge others for my services??

Thanks all...

My company back in 2004 used to lease a license for 30,000 a year, I'm sure it has gone up.

Re: Rate For Fla Qualifying Agent

I currently have my own company and I am looking at qualifying a seperate company in FL. I'm trying to figure out a fair rate.

My first concern is how much risk is involved for me? A larger company has more employees and more things could go wrong (remember, you can loose your license)

Also, the value of a license is greater for a $20 million company than, say, a $1 million company, right...

FLBuilder - About how much in sales did the business do annually and how were your payments recieved? (weekly, quarterly...)

Re: Rate For Fla Qualifying Agent

I suppose it depends a lot on state laws.

In my state (NM) every construction company needs a license and that license needs a qualifying party. The QP is the guy who passed the test. It is specific per trade. Many companies have multiple QP's, many OP's have multiple classifications (I'm qualified as general, mechanical, electrical).

The QP must be a full time employee of the company. The QP cannot be QP for more than one company at a time. Leasing would not be an option.

One could go to work as an employee of the company and be its QP.

Not to pass judgement, but qualifying a company without being involved is not ethical.

A percentage of net profit paid monthly, quarterly or whatever. Personally I would want a large percent because you are 100% responsible for everything that company does with your license.

Re: Rate For Fla Qualifying Agent

Or legal. The law says that you must "supervise the construction operations of the company". If you aren’t doing that you are breaking the law and you may lose your license if the Florida CILB finds out. It's a hefty fine at minimum, a criminal offense in the worst case.

Bottom line is, it's ILLIGAL.

Thanks for the comment, that is why I mentioned that I need to be involved and supervise all operations.

Re: Rate For Fla Qualifying Agent

Just my 2 cents...

There is nothing unethical about a company entering into an employment agreement with someone who holds a classification that is needed by that company.
