Question - Requirements For Contractor To Work In Canada
Situation:
One of my long time clients moved from Michigan to Ontario last fall, (her employer made her an offer she couldn't refuse.) Use to do all the work on her old house here in the states. Now, she wants to install vinyl siding on her new house in Canada. Question: Does anybody know what the requirements for working in Canada are as far as licensing to do the siding job? Does Canada recognize a Michigan Builders License? Also, what about getting my truck (a 16 foot box truck loaded with tools, materials, equipment, etc) across the border. If I can clear all that, can I buy materials here and take them across, or is it better to buy them in Canada? Last time I tried to cross the border years ago with my 1 ton van, the border guards wanted a complete inventory of everything on the truck. I haven't tried to cross in years so I don't have the slightest idea whats required now. I do see Canadian contractors working on this side every so often with company trucks and vans, so I imagine there is some sorf of paperwork to fill out. My personal feeling it that it might be more trouble than it's worth... Thanks in advance for any input! |

Re: Question - Requirements For Contractor To Work In Canada
first off are you able to work in Canada meaning are you Canadian or landed immigrant, or in any way qualified to work in Canada if not you cannot work here legally if you are you have to bond in and out and yes you still have to inventory everything on your truck be easier to take just what you need and visit united rentals for the rest. things are much tougher since 9/11 i cross every day
