Question Regarding Credit Report And Licensing In Florida

I'm preparing to activate H.V.A.C. license in florida and my question regarding my credit report is; My credit is good, I have a credit score of 698, but I have a high debt to credit ratio, meaning I have alot of debt. I'm also planning on incorporationg a new company. How will this credit issue affect the application process. Can I be denied for this? Thanks for your response.

Score does not matter. They will get a report that will include a clerk of court report checking for judgments, leins, bankruptcies, etc. It will also iclude the usual items like collections and so on. As long as you do not have any outstanding judgements and leins then you will be granted a license if everything else is correct on your license application.

How did that work out for you? I am taking the CB test in Florida in Feb. I just lost my home in Michigan and am working on consolidating some credit card debt. Do you think they will deny me my license?

Re: Question Regarding Credit Report And Licensing In Florida

As it currently stands, the only credit report information that will cause a problem with your application are current, unresolved bankruptcies, liens or judgments against you or the business that you will be qualifying. In fact, current credit reporting requirements do not include an actual credit score. The board is discussing other ways to tighten up applicant's financial requirements, but as of right now this is all that is being enforced. Good luck on your exam!

How long do you think before the board tightens up on credit requirements?

Re: Question Regarding Credit Report And Licensing In Florida

Thanks Phil Back atcha for California!

Xeon, there is nothing certain at this time, but speculation is that things may tighten up in about 3 months. There is a rule on the books right now that will require a bond if the applicant doesn't have a high enough credit score. That rule currently is not being enforced. The CILB is currently working on completely revamping the application forms with an anticipated release date of May or June. When the new forms are released, we have been led to believe that the credit score rule will begin to be actively enforced.

Nothing is for certain at this time, it's all speculation...but it's the best we have to go on for now.

Hope this helps...

As of Oct. 2011, is this pretty much still what they're looking for in a credit report?
