Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
Hi,
After looking at this site and reading some damn good advice from a lot of different posts, I thought I might ask for your experience. I am a painting contractor in Florida. I know how to paint, sell jobs, and serve customers. The administrative/employee management side of the business is a HUGE headache I have asked around and a few other contractors use a PEO/Employee leasing company. I understand they can lower my costs on payroll taxes, give me a break on my workers comp and offer my guys benefits that I cannot and also protect me from employee related suits. Sounds pretty damn good. What do you do? Who do you use? One guy I spoke with was a broker and he represents like 14 other Employee Leasing Companies. He can get these companies to compete for my business, so i do not have to call them and listen to some sales pitch. Any thoughts or recommendations would be great!

Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
I like Employee Leasing Strategies (Evan Collart) at 727-421-8250. (Florida) We only have 7 employees - some paid direct deposit - some checks mailed - some weekly - some bi-weekly. He doesn't complain.
For me, no more quarterly reports to the IRS, monthly electronic deposits, unemployment tax calculations, etc. It's been wonderful. We looked around and his prices were very reasonable. Also, I like that I deal with one person who then handles all aspect from issuing certificates of worker's comp. to adding employees to following up on payroll. The other companies I dealt with seemed to have so many different departments that I never received very good personal service. Hope this helps. Good luck. Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
This is something that I have been interested in for quite some time. Our problem is that we must have at least 6 full time employees before a PEO will consider us.
I have tossed around the idea of combining my wifes company and mine together under an umbrella company. We both have been using independents and paying a percentage to them. We really need more control and the only option is to make them well payed employees with benefits. If you find one that accepts 4 employees or less please post their contact info. |

Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
Thanks for the quick posts!
I have really spent all weekend reading threads!! Wish I would have found this site a long time ago. I was referred to a guy who represents about 14 of these PEO/Employee leasing companies across Florida. He also represents PEOs in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. He told me he has a soulution for 1-4 employee size and solutions for larger companies. He also said that right now since I am small, as I grow, which I will, he will go back and negotiate the best rates and deepest discounts for me.He gave me a few names of other painting contractors and I looked at his web site. He seems legit, even took my call on a Saturday and told me if he did not get my business he would still help me find the best deal. His name is : Michael Murray His Company is: First Place Employer Services 941-266-7068 cell Now Dibi - does your guy actually do the payroll or is he like Mike and finds the best company for you? I am just looking around to find the best solution for my company and all of my guys...I speant a whole lot of time painting, but the running of the business is a pain in the neck!! Thanks a lot and I look ofrward to your input! |

Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
Thanks for the heads up I will have to check him out.
In my experience whenever one of these guys says that "he has a solution for less than 6 employees" the solution has never been another PEO (even though I specify up front that I am looking for PEO service only)....the solution has always been something like AFLAC and a health savings account. I have also talked to local temp services about using my own guys under their company like a PEO. They were not receptive in the least. Good luck in your search. |

Jesse,
I laughed so hard when I read your post. I know the same thing tyou are talking about. Or also in the past when they say solution they want a bunch of cash up front. I was curious as I am tryg to look for a good agent myself. he actually wrote me back and deals with a company in Missouri that is a PEO offering Nation Wide coverage. They do write construction trades and can offer payroll and comp with 5 employees and less. Would you mind if I gave him yiour web site or some way to contact you? I have checked this guy out and he is a member in good standing with the PDCA.... I am going to have him look around have a few PEO companies compete for my business thanks! |

Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
I don't mind at all and thanks for asking.
If he tries to sell me something other than a reasonable PEO service he will get an earful though These people will not take no for an answer. Alliance has been the worst; they are also nation wide but have an office near here.My accountant provides regular payroll services and was looking into providing the PEO; but said there was way to much Government regulation to make it worthwhile for him. He also said it would be a great fit for a small business like mine looking for big business benefits for employees (and for my own family also) Thanks again |

Re: Payroll/Employee Leasing Company? What Do You Think? Who Do You Use?
Employee Leasing Solutions shops around (like a broker). I just like that I only have to deal with one person. He took us on when we only had three employees.
I pay 3% for their administrative costs for doing all of the paperwork and 3.84% worker's comp.for supervisors in the field. (13% for trim carpenters) I could not find worker's comp. cheaper nor did I want to do the payroll and all of the accompanying paperwork. Shop around until you're comfortable. |

What do I think? Employee Leasing makes sure that the offshore team is surely capable of operating and fulfilling the objectives of the assigned works. Businessmen only have to trust and consider the possibilities offered by the services. You’ll never know if it will lead your business to success.
