Looking To Get My CA License

I've been working for my father for the last 8 years. I was told I could be RME or RMO'd? How do I go about doing this? and which application do I use off CSLB? He has his Masonry License but I'd rather get my Concrete license is that possible? Or would I have to get the Masonry License?
Thanks!

Re: Looking To Get My CA License

Hi jbradley007,

I have a few questions...

Do you want to become the C-8 qualifier on your fathers license?
Is your fathers license a sole ownership or corporation?
Do you want your own license?
Are you listed on your fathers license?
How old are you?

You could get your own license, be an RME on his sole license or an RME or RMO on his corporate license. Many options.

My father owns his own company
He is C-29. I would rather do Concrete then Masonry So I'd rather be C-8.
I want to be licensed.
I'm not licensed on my fathers license yet.
I'm 26 years of age.
I appreciate the questions.
I'd much rather do concrete than masonry. But my dad has been a mason for 40 years and knows no better.

Thank you so much.

Re: Looking To Get My CA License

Ok, that narrows it down. You want your own C-8 contractors license number.

Piece of cake. If you can show 4 years of experience in the C-8 trade and have someone certify (sign off) to that experience you're all set.

No, your father can't certify you because he holds the C-29. If he held the C-8 or a B he could. For certifiers you could use another journeyman, business associate, or employer or a C-8 or B.

Submit your app and in about 6 weeks you'll be sitting for your exams.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Re: Looking To Get My CA License

If you have your app completed you can mail it to the CSLB with a check for $400. 9821 Business Park Dr. Sacramento, Ca 95827.

Or I could complete your state docs for you. Click on my name below for more info.

I also offer a free app review service to CT members. If you'd like me to go over the app to look for correctness and accuracy you can email or fax it to me.
