Licensing School - California
I am adding a B classification to my current C-53 in California. I am interested in your experiences and recommendations for home study courses and their relevance to the actual exam. Information on the good and bad would be appreciated. I will not have to take the Law exam, just the trade. I am most interested in home study rather than classroom.

Re: Licensing School - California
I memorized over 300 trade and OSHA questions from a home study program as they recomended plus 15 flash cards I created myself of additional info in there material for reassurance, asked them if they could recomend any additional material, they said there material was all I needed, that any additional material would only confuse me. Thought I had it dialed...I didnt recognize half of the subjects in half of the questions of the exam...failed, and I know that the home material did not cover alot of the questions so my only option now is to take the class, they sent me no trade material, little law material, and they say that you dont even have to complete that, said most everything will be covered in the 2 day class. Word is, is that there sample exams and study material are more up to date. Home study will send you a ton of material, but if its not up to date!!

The international codes all have study books that are available. When I was studying,I also did it myself.I took my code books and wrote EVERY code in a question form. The international books do that for you.Not sure which codes you use but I would call the PRINTERS of your code books.Good chance they have it.If it's internationmal codes call 888 422 7233.

I also used the Peerless Institute books to study as well. Although I think they give you too much information if all you want to do is just pass the test. I think the school gave more pointed information needed to pass the first time. I passed both on the first try. They give you like 2.5 hours to pass the law and another 2.5 to pass the trade. I finished both tests within the first 2 hours. Last edited by BKFranks; 06-04-2008 at 05:07 PM. Reason: Update. |
