Depends on what kind of inspection. There are several kinds like Wind Mitigation, 4-point, 25-year....

I used to do the simple wind mitigation inspections for an insurance agency. It's really simple in you know what to look for. All you really need is a latter, flashlight, roofing knowledge, and a digital camera to take pictures of property and shutters, roofing geometry, etc.

I've done no formal research but I remember somebody saying that being an inspector and contractor was considered a conflict of interest and that you could only operate as one or the other.

It may be a conflict of interest if you do the inspection and the repairs, but there is nothing illegal about it.

Home Inspectors for home sales will need to be licensed beginning next year... State Certified and Insured... beginning July 1, 2010.

You can bet that all other inspections will soon follow...

When did this become law?

I think it is a great idea.

Is the licensing through the CILB?
