Florida GC License

I just passed my GC exam and need some advice.

The person verifying my experience is out of the country for the next 2 months. He has already signed and had notarized my application, but being as though he is in the middle east I wasn’t sure if my issuance of license would be on hold until the CILB had a chance to contact him via phone or direct mail.

If this is the case I will need to find another GC I have worked for to verify my experience. If his notarized signature on the application is enough then I would like to know more about your services.

Anyone know if the board contacts the GC verifying experience?

They do contact the GC, but if he already signed off on it and you passed the test, your good to go. Grats btw.

Re: Florida GC License

Hmm, maybe i'm not clear, sorry.

I am about to send my application in and the verification of experience form has been signed by my former employer, a GC.

He is now out of the US and i was just wondering if when the board looks at my application will they contact him before issuing my license....

Thanks..

Re: Florida GC License

Ahh, gotcha, did you take the test through a school or from the dept itself? You are supposed to (actually not clear on this one because I took it before they required time served) have proof of your work history before taking the test... I was confused since if you took the test from the dept they should have had you complete all forms at that time, if it was through one of the schools... beats me, the state is slow at times......

Re: Florida GC License

No everyone nowadays has to take the test through a 3rd party test administartion company.

Thank you for your help, but i think a lot has changed over the years...

Anyone else have ideas?

Re: Florida GC License

Maybe I'm a little late but...

My experience from earlier this year doing my [Florida GC] paperwork was that they Never even contacted the GC who signed my paperwork. What's that, no verification?

I spoke with the company that expidited my paperwork and was told that Tallahassee doesn't have time to check them all. If you later have a problem on a job that's when they go back and do some digging into your background.

Get on with your paperwork!

Congrats!

Re: Florida GC License

Thank you, that is what i've heard as well. They make it very difficult to get everything in order, but it seems that they dont really follow through with the thoroughness that they expect of you.

Perculiar....thank you though!

Re: Florida GC License

Peculiar is right.

Oh, I forgot to mention. If you haven't already sent in your paperwork I have a solution for you. I used an expiditing service to speed up the process for getting everything filed and they did an amazing job.

Professional Licensure Services at 850.514.2194. It cost about $600 and took less than a month to complete everything. You tell me if the money is worth it. What you may or may not realize is that getting the new company established, insurance, and all of that other "stuff" will actually take longer than the GC paperwork.

Good Luck.

Thank you for the reference, I'll ask them for a proposal. I am on my way back to Florida from the West Coast. I am considering activating my Fl State Lic.

No they dont all the time. Its the luck of the draw. However if job history does not have exactly what they want to hear you will still have trouble.

Re: Florida GC License

Its fairly drawn out. Basically you have to take on a licence holder as a partner. It doesnt have to 50/50 but some form of partnership.
