I got my B3 last July. I spent $895 for the license. Testing was reasonable, under 200 for sure. I spent $350 on bonds as well. I also took local classes and did very well on the tests.

I have a k20. I think it was around $1200 everything said and done. You need proof two year work history, and take the business test, and you are in like Flynn.
Whats up with the sudden interest by Arizonians, i'm not complaining, just excited.

Re: Expanding To Phx/questions About Licensing

I am expanding there, possibly going to move to queen creek. I have a trim business here in VA. But my wife's family lives there and she wants to move back there, I lived there for five years on the westside. How is the work and pay, do you have any contracts with big builders?

Re: Expanding To Phx/questions About Licensing

I have some contracts with some decent sized custom home builders. I wouldnt call them large.

Work is good as long as you stay away from the tract houses. That market has bottomed out, but the high end is as busy as ever. I have a ton of people for you to talk with if you come out here. There are allot of builders looking for good trim guys. There is an extreme shortage over here. I cant find any more guys for my crew, or else I would try to build more relation ships with those bigger builders.

But my folks are out in Queen Creek.

Re: Expanding To Phx/questions About Licensing

I am going to be coming out there soon to take my test and try to set up relationships, if I could hook up with you or you could pass on any builders that you may know who are looking that would be great. I am very fast and have high quality. I figured the tract homes I would probably have to stay away from because of the low pay. But I can produce volume if I have a couple good guys. Are the high-end buliders getting crown, chair-rail, oak stair, etc? What are you charging a sq. ft.? Is there enough work in the high end to go around?
