What is your opinion about this?

Hey guys, have not posted in a while, good to be back. I am looking at a truck with a 3116 cat motor. What is your opinion about this motor? I know it is not a power house but, I think it will work fine and it has low miles with allison auto.

Dad's got one in a Topkick. almost 300k and still going strong, very reliable so far. pretty good fuel economy and like you said, not a big powerhouse but not real bad either in a S/A

I believe this is what we have in our tandem axle sterling at work. Its not a bad set up, in fact it makes driving easy. The only thing I dont care for, is the auto doesnt seem to put the power to the wheels that a manual. Other than that, its a nice set up, and seems to get the job done nicely.

Thanks brothers for the info, I still have not made up my mind. I think the 3116 motors don't need hot rodding and very good maintenance program to survive. I am thinking that the negatives I have heard are from fleet guys that have a hard time with drivers not taking care of the equipment.
