Don't carry more than you have to. If you use a Pocket PC based Cell Phone or PDA, then use this instead of the calculator.

Math isn't my thing either. Infact I don't do any math without a calc. I have on as part of my clip board, basic, but that's all I need. I also use the calculator found on windows. Again basic, but it's all I need.

My mother had bought me a "construction calculator" which performed alot of basic functions used in construction like figuring roof areas base don pitch and rafter angles and all cubic yards for cement... Anyways I lost it but didn't use it much because I have most of those formulas in my head and didn't want to become dependant on one little calculator which I would be lost if I ever lost.

Well....for the technologically illiterate, there is always a pencil (#2) and paper....I use a plain jane calculator with sqare root function. True, there are a lot of engineering functions and shortcuts available, but besides run and rise for rafters, how many would you use? The little book with a speed square deletes the need of a calculator.

I got a construction master calc for a gift, and figured I would never use it, but it hasn't been the case. The more I use it the more ways I find to use it. Being able to enter in feet and inches and doing calculations is pretty indespensible for me.

I use a basic scientific from WallyWorld or wherever I happen to be when the old one dies. $10.00. If you can live without advanced math, they're cheaper but not much.

Without basic math knowledge you can push all the buttons you want, It's not going to help.
But being able to do it in a fraction of the time that it would on paper is a no brainer, time is money you know!

Re: What Kinda Calculator Do The Pro's Use?

Unless I need the trig functions and dig out my TI-80, I rely on scratch paper, plain jane calculator, and pencil.....my thought is use it or loose it....and sure, if you don't know the math, a calculator won't do you any good...

I just use the standard el-cheapo that I got at Radio Shack. That pad of paper for notes and the old noodle is all I need.

Well the old noodle ain't what it used to be but I get by.

Actually, I think I ripped them off. They call it a dollar store, but I practically stole it for $0.99

Yeah, I forgot about the flip case. It comes in really handy when you want to one up a Yuppie in his beamer talking on his Razor phone, you can whip out the CM IV and flip the lid open and pretend to talk on it, look over at him and smile and wave and watch that Yuppies jaw drop, he won't be able to see exactly what you are using, all he will see is how big it is and the mess of buttons on it, he'll be home surfing the Motorola website all night long trying to find out what hot cell phone is out there that he doesn't know about!
