What Gets Me Going

What gets me going every year around June through Aug. is when your customer says their foundation is leaking because the floor or walls are wet. You tell them it's condensation and they look at you like you just sprouted another eyeball in your forehead. We must have (5 )dehumidifiers that we put in peoples basements to show them that it dries up. Hello! This is what you need to buy. And then you have the people that just don't want the expense of running them.
I'm sure that you have also run in to this problem.

Yeh, guy here had me build a room in his basement. I went to look and saw mold and dampness all over the place and told him about the dehumidfi, had me do the room anyway saying he would have the HVAC man do something, well while I was working the HVAC man showed up, looked, gave him price to solve problem, home owner said it was too much, now he wants to complain because my rock shows water damage from moisture. Well DUH! Not my problem!

LOL, I get the same thing after installing new windows-homies calls very irate-"we've got water all over the inside of our windows, you need to come out here and fix something since you obviously did'nt install them right!"

I always laugh and say the reason you have all that condensation is because we did install them right as now the moisture is not escaping like it did with your old barn windows. Quit taking showers/baths, washing clothes, and doing dishes and the condensation problem will relieve itself....OR you could turn down your humidifier on the furnace OR run a dehumidifer.

We do quite a few basement drainage problems a year. We are always cautioning people about the difference between wet basements and condensation. We have the problem in old houses with stone foundations quite a bit.

On the masonry side we have had some serious condensation problems on interior chimneys.

We had the same problem one time with a builder. The back side of the foundation walls (where the sun beat on it all day) were damp. We drilled a hole through the block and the inside was bone dry.

LOL, thta's why I refrain from coffee whenever possible 9been doin Pepsi for the past 16yrs) unless I'm looking for a reason to "take a break" Otherwise, since literally switching to Wheaties for breakfast I have become as reliable as you speak of, 7am do my thing and I'm good to go for the day....unless it's really super hot out and then the heat sheeots kick in
